VANCOUVER, Washington - (February 9, 2002) - Milena Glusac's fifth-place finish in the USATF Winter Cross Country Championships qualified her for the USA team going to the World Cross Country Championships in Dublin, Ireland.
Running in the wake of Deena Drossin's sixth national cross country championship (26:31), Glusac clocked 27:12 on the four-loop 8-kilometer course.
Glusac was the 2001 San Diego USATF female athlete of the year. Her 2001 performances included US Road Championships at 20K, Half-Marathon and 25K, plus a 2:34:46 debut for second place in the USATF Marathon Championship in New York City. She was the first US finisher in the IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships (1:11:44) and ran 32:40.78 for 10,000m on the track. She was Running USA's second-ranked female road runner and ranked second in the US in the Marathon, and eighth at 10,000m.
The World Cross Country Championships are March 23-24. Joining Drossin and Glusac will be Colleen De Reuck (26:46), Elva Dryer (26:51), Jen Rhines (27:04), and Amy Rudolph (27:18).
