MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

February 14, 1986

  1. President Ken Bernard called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. In addition to the President and Secretary, the attendees were Hal Bateman, Linda Gorman, Kevin Heaton, Jeff Rigdon, and Bill Stock.
  2. The Board approved the minutes of the meeting of October 15.
  3. The President gave the Treasurer's report. The checking account balance as of January 21, 1986 was $7387.29. $2130 of that amount was deposits against insurance fees. The certificate of deposit is another $11,000.
  4. The Board approved a motion by the Secretary to designate the same Championship races for the 1986 SDIAC Grand Prix as for the 1985 series and to maintain the prize structure, as listed below. Each race will award ten points to first, down through one point for tenth, to the top runners who are SDIAC-registered for 1986. The highest totals at the end of the season earn awards. The Championship races are listed.

    The Women's, Masters' and Juniors' divisions of SDIAC will award road championship prizes for top SDIAC-registered runners in the Lions-Padres 10K.
  5. The Board discussed the awards dinner and named the following Athletes of the Year. The Board will invite these winners, as well as the top three scorers in the 1985 Grand Prix, to the Awards Dinner.

    The Secretary announced that the top three scorers in the 1985 Grand Prix were Kevin Heaton, Keith Jeffers, and Dennis Kasischke.
  6. The President reported on the efforts of the Balboa Stadium Resurfacing Committee, on which he sits as SDIAC representative. Dr. Stanton Wheeler who reviews grants for LAOC recently visited San Diego and proposed a $175,000 challenge grant. The Board unanimously approved supporting the resurfacing effort.
  7. The Board discussed insurance again. Hal Bateman pointed out that a $1000 deductible applies on property claims, and questioned the availability of a copy of the policy.
  8. The meeting adjourned at 9:46 p.m.
