ANNUAL MEETING

  1. President Ken Bernard called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. In addition to the President and Secretary, the attendees were Lolitia Bache, Linda Gorman, Jeff Rigdon, and Judy Stolpe.
  2. The Secretary certified the voting membership.
  3. The Board approved the minutes of the annual meeting held December 13, the meeting of the Board of Directors held October 15, and the special meeting of the Long-Distance Running Committee held November 18. At the national convention the President gave copies of the minutes of the special meeting to Ollan Cassell, Executive Director of TAC/USA, and Don Kardong, National Long-Distance Running Chairman.
  4. The President gave the Treasurer's report. The checking account balance is $4,046.50, while the certificates of deposit were another $16,000. There are refunds due for one or more races which overestimated attendance, and $250 was recently returned.
  5. Juniors Chairman Linda Gorman announced that the Association Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships increased attendance over 1985, and that the San Diego Track Club girls team placed second in the regionals.
  6. Women's Track and Field Chairman Lolitia Bache reported on several actions at the TAC convention. The women's Olympic Trial Marathon will be held in conjunction with the 1988 Pittsburgh Marathon, Nina Kuscik to act as liaison for TAC. The convention passed a rules change on pacing. Barbara Palm is in charge of a task force to address the pacing issue. The 1987 Masters 15K and 20K Championships will be held in San Diego.
  7. Gorman reported that there were three qualifiers at the Kinney regionals, including Marc Davis, who won the nationals. The Juniors will conduct a 1987 Grand Prix using the Mission Bay Marathon 10K and the Lions-Padres 10K. The MBM 10K is the qualifier for the July National Championships.
  8. Jeff Rigdon reported on track and field officials' activities. Henry Manley conducted a local clinic for 25 officials. There will be a SDT&FOA meeting January 5.
  9. Women's Long-Distance Running Chairman Judy Stolpe reported from the national convention that the pacing and cheating issues need to be addressed for national championships. She also noted that $50,000 is available for LDR special projects, including drug testing, for men and women.
  10. There was only one nominee each for the officer positions. The following were elected unanimously for two-year terms:

  11. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
